Dr Melanie Lee

Director of Trust Psychology and Principal Clinician

Melanie is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Analytic Therapy Practitioner (MA (Hons), DClinPsy, CPsychol, AFBPsS), being a Chartered Member and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.  HCPC Reg No: PYL03466

Melanie worked for 13 years in the NHS and is now full-time within Trust Psychology. Melanie’s particular interests and expertise are working with adults in psychological distress alongside consulting, teaching, training and supervising others in psychological approaches. Melanie has published her doctoral work and co-authored two book chapters within the area of therapist learning and development. 

Trained in a range of different therapeutic modalities, Melanie has a passion for working relationally and has completed her training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) in addition to previous training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Dr Alan bowman

Associate Clinical Psychologist

Alan is a Clinical Psychologist with experience of working with adults across the lifespan with a wide variety of physical and psychological difficulties. He has extensive experience of working in medical settings, where he has worked in NHS teams specialising in the management of chronic pain, diabetes, cardiovascular problems, and dissociative neurological symptom disorder. Common presenting issues that Alan often works with include depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment to long-term health problems, identity/existence concerns, insomnia, stress, and grief.

He has particular therapeutic interests in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Existential Psychotherapy. As a Clinical Psychologist he is able to integrate key elements from a range of therapy approaches in a way that best meets the needs of the person.  

Outside of Trust Psychology, Alan also works part-time in the NHS, within a specialist service for dissociative neurological symptom disorder (DSND). He also works as a lecturer on the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme, Teesside University, where he provides teaching and research supervision to future Clinical Psychologists. His research interests include psychological adjustment to long-term health problems, mechanisms of visual hallucinations, and applications and mechanisms of Acceptance and Commitment therapy. He is a published author in the field of pain management, risk management, and visual hallucinations.

Dr Lesley Pilkington

Associate Counselling Psychologist

Lesley is a Counselling Psychologist with clinical experience in the NHS, third sector and IAPT services. She has a particular interest in working with mood disorders, those experiencing trauma related symptoms, relationally based difficulties and those who are adjusting to living with chronic conditions. Lesley is able to work with adolescents and adults in all these areas.
Lesley's clinical practice is underpinned by an integrative relational approach, incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy (EMDR).
Lesley's academic career has been as a Senior Lecturer at Doctorate level where she has taught extensively about psychodynamic therapy and on issues relating to clinical practice, an area in which she has published research. Lesley has supervised a number of doctoral research projects on a wide range of issues e.g. childhood sexual abuse, binge eating disorders, ADHD.

Dr Michael Lavender

Associate Clinical Psychologist

Michael has over 5 years' experience working within the field of psychology. He specialises in complex mental health & psychological problems associated with chronic pain and physical healthdifficulties.

This includes provision of specialist psychological assessment and therapy to adults and children including: psychological trauma; pain management; adjustment to chronic illness; health anxiety; sleep problems; depression; worry; grief; panic; guilt; low self-esteem; anger; frustration; occupational stress; coping; and relationship difficulties.

He is also an accredited Clinical Psychology Supervisor and is qualified to practice in Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT). In addition, he is experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Clinical Hypnosis for pain management.

Dr Suzanne Kearney

Associate Clinical Psychologist

Suzanne is an experienced clinical psychologist, having worked extensively with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional difficulties, often complicated by long term physical ill health. Within the NHS, she has specialist experience of working within persistent pain, HIV, oncology, weight management and diabetes services.
Suzanne is passionate about providing excellent quality mental health services and therefore draws on a range of evidence based psychological approaches in order to meet the needs of each individual client. She has particular therapeutic interests in Compassion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy.

Catherine Bockett

Trust Psychology Administrator

Catherine has a broad range of experience in a variety of work settings, but what she enjoys most is interacting with people. She is here to answer your calls and preliminary queries, and to assist in the smooth running of Trust Psychology.
